Following a handful of sold out shows in Melbourne in April, after a 10 year hiatus, The Paradise Motel will embark on their first official Australian tour this September/October.
The recent release of The Paradise Motel’s critically-acclaimed album Australian Ghost Story – based on the events surrounding the disappearance of Azaria Chamberlain in 1980 – will see the seven-piece outfit perform the album in its entirety, along with select favourites from their previous releases.
Formed in Hobart in 1994, The Paradise Motel relocated to Melbourne and signed with Infectious Records. Garnering rave reviews, following the release of their debut EP Left Over Life To Kill and albums Still Life and Flight Paths, TPM based themselves in London in 1998 and toured throughout Europe, the UK and America for the two years that followed, gracing stages with the likes of Sparklehorse, Mercury Rev and Grandaddy. In 2009, the band made its long-awaited return to record their fourth album, Australian Ghost Story in a barn beneath giant Eucalyptus on the banks of the Yarra River, Warburton in Melbourne.
Renowned for capturing the true essence and effect of noise and silence, The Paradise Motel’s haunting soundscapes, coupled with the melancholic vocals of Merida Sussex, create an emotive atmosphere that is guaranteed to move you. Don’t miss these special shows.
